Uffa Fox brought two chined hull Flying Fifteens to Mallorca in 1968 where he hoped to establish a fleet.
This was the start.
Twenty-four years passed before a group of expats imported the next six boats. Since then things have multiplied, and we have 40 boats on the island of Mallorca at the present time.
The original fleet in Pollensa is thriving and a second fleet may be formed in Palma.
Uffa designed the CHINE FLYING FIFTEEN in the late 1960s. The boat has similar principal dimensions to the Flying Fifteen but with 3 inches more beam and was designed for ease of construction from plywood. Three boats were built in Uffa's boat shop at the Commodore's House before being shipped to Majorca.
The boat gets a mention in the book More Joys of Living.
